Tacoma Roofing & Waterproofing
The Preferred Deck Coating Contractor for Steilacoom, WA
We were called out, to see if we could fix another roofers attempt at applying traffic coating, on a small deck in Steilacoom. Above is what the deck looked like before traffic coating was applied. Traffic coating is used to protect wearing surfaces like concrete or plywood from vehicular and pedestrian traffic abrasion. In the case of concrete, traffic coating offers protection from freeze-thaw damage as well as daily wear and tear. Where decks are elevated, these coatings provide excellent waterproofing for the occupied space below. We looked at a job, came up with a solution on how to fix it with traffic coating.
The process we used to fix the deck with applying traffic coating was to first scrape down all of the bubbles with a painters multi-tool scraper and then cleaned the surface with damp rags. Then we masked the drain with tape to avoid excess coating from entering into unwanted areas. Lastly we rolled on one layer of coating followed by broadcast sand over the surface and then rolled another layer of coating over top to encapsulate the sand tread.
In the after photo of the deck with traffic coating applied properly, you can see visually the deck is more aesthetically pleasing as well as the protection against every day pedestrian traffic wear and tear has been improved. As an expert waterproofing and deck coating contractor, you can trust Tacoma Roofing & Waterproofing to find the best solution for your deck.
